... II. The Framework ...

Promised Time, Promised People, and Promised Lands

It seems appropriate to end this section on space and location as a framework for integrating science and religion by referencing related Biblical themes.

Regarding time:
“When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.” Psalms 102:16
“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter days upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.” Job 19:25-26
Regarding people:
“For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondsmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.” Deuteronomy 7:6-8
Regarding lands:
“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing; And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. . . . the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an alter unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.” Genesis 12:1-3, 7
“And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.” Joshua 21:43
We do not have a lot of the details necessary to map out and model when these people will be where. However, we have more than we realize. And when many of us, from many different religious backgrounds and locations, put together an integrated model of the data we have, I’m convinced we will be able to see meaningful patterns which will be of use to all people with an open mind.
