Our congregation had sent teams to Mississippi to cut trees and clean up houses and help those who had been "acted upon" by Hurricane Katrina. On Monday evening, following Katrina hitting New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, a tally of the Church's combined volunteer efforts in hurricane stricken areas included 9,204 man-days and 4,832 work orders, providing assistance to over 4,800 people.3.123 So, as we congratulated ourselves on being prepared and providing assistance to those in need, Rita formed in the Gulf of Mexico and headed towards Galveston Island and Houston. Because of having seen the destruction of Katrina on the Internet, on television, and first hand (See Figure 42), those of us in Houston were looking at daily news reports and areal photos of the new storm, Rita, and becoming very worried about this second giant hurricane bearing down on us.

Where was God? Why did He allowing all of this destruction? The World Net Daily reported: "Hurricane Katrina walloped New Orleans just two days before the annual homosexual "Southern Decadence" festival was to begin in the town, an act being characterized by some as God's work."3.124
