I am convinced there is a pot of gold hidden in the geology of Southern Utah, which ultimately benefits Cedar City and SUU. I have travelled the world with my work, and there is no place else where there are such stunning stratigraphic outcrops like this edited photo of the Kolob Overlook of Five Fingers, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Zion Canyon, Snows Canyon, the Brooks Cliffs, Lake Powell, and the Grand Canyon next to iron mines next to spectacular caves like Lehman's Cave in the Great Basin Park. Geologists already come to the area with field camps and just to enjoy the geology. I do not think Cedar City nor SUU is tapping into this interest in a way to optimize value to either the city nor the university as the gateway to the best geology on earth.
