As a geophysicist, with expertise in refletion seismology, I find too many of my colleagues do not have a good feel for what the seismic reflection is recording. Putting modeled seismic traces on top of seismic scale outcrop geology like this truly teaches basic geophysical concepts. It is nice to talk about acoustic impedance boundaries, and how disruptions on sediment weaving by unconfirmity surfaces creates chronostratigraphic boundaries which are the key reflections on a seismic section, and it is better tho see it in the field and get a phyiscal handle on what causes reflections. Cedar City and SUU truly are the gateway to a new world for geophysicists.
