I worked from before the time my Senior Thesis was published in May of 1974 until December of 1982 to lay the groundwork for creating what became Landmark Graphics Corporation. Landmark was the first geophysical contractor to build a stand-alone 3-D seimsic interpretation workstation. This is a picture of our first delivered product. The first workstation, which old for $380,000 each, was driven with an Intel 286 chip, which wsa later upgraed to a 386 and then a 486 chip. We had 2 1024x1280 monitors, 2 330 Gigabye Fujitsu Eagle disk drives, and a 1,000 Gigabye optical disk drive. The first three workstations were delivered in the spring of 1984 to BHP Petroluem in Melbourne Australia, to Imperial Chemical in London, and to Sun Oil in Dallas Texas. Halliburton had a 25 year celebration of Landmark in 2007, which was the first year Landmark had over $1 billion in sales. They have exceeded this sales figure each year since then. Landmark Graphics changed the way every oil and gas exploration company in the world explores for hydrocarbons. It has been an humbling honor to have been involved in this positive business enterprise.
