The best way to view the Guide

On what machines can I see the guide?

Assuming you have an HTML reader, you should be able to view the guide on any Macintosh, any IBM P.C. compatible machine and on any Unix machine.

It has been deliberately created in the most basic version of HTML (Hyper text Mark-up Language) so even the simplest HTML readers/"Web Surfers" should have no problems reading it.

All images have been created in GIF format for portability (backgrounds are in JPEG (JPG) format).

Videos and animation (of which there are a couple) have been done in .AVI and Quicktime again to provide portability

How fast should the images come up?

Most images should display within 2 to 3 seconds. This depends on the speed of the network, the server machine and the machine being used to view the guide.

If it is too slow, try loading the guide locally subject to the licence agreement.

Most images have been created in 'interlaced' format to give you the option to cancel the download as quickly as possible if the image is not appropriate.

All images have been kept to well under 100 Kilobytes while at the same time trying not to degrade the quality of the image.

There are just a few that we couldn't compromise on quality that are about 150 Kilobytes in size.

If you are having difficulty, then there is an extra Help Page which you can get to wherever you see this icon.
