Andrea del Verrocchio

1435 - 1488

Florentine sculptor and painter, born as Andrea di Cione.

Little is known about his life. There are indications that he started his career as a goldsmith. Later he is supposed to have worked with Botticelli for Filippo Lippi. From the end of the 60's he did much work for the de' Medicis, Florence's most influential family.

Leonardo da Vinci and Perugino were among his students.
