Right wing of the Crucifixion Triptych. It shows Veronica with the towel she used to wipe the sweat of Jesus' face when he was on his way to be crucified. Legend has it that an imprint of his face remained on the towel. The name Veronica may be derived from the Latin phrase 'vera icon', true image.
