This is the left panel of the Last Judgment triptych. Fra Angelico biography Fra Angelico 1387 - 1455 Italian painter born Guido di Pietro, around 1400. In 1407 he joins the Order of Dominicans in Fiesole where he applies himself to the fine art of painting. His order is in charge of the San Marco Monastery Church in Florence, for which Angelico designs a series of frescoes (1436-1443). In 1452 he becomes prior of the monastery of Fiesole. Fra Angelico is beatified in 1982. Fra Angelico is considered a transitional figure between late mediaeval Gothic and the onset of the Renaissance. Masaccio and Donatello rank among his main influences. His work is not innovative, but breathes a mediaeval atmosphere. Characteristic of his work are the spacious feel and serene appearance of his figures.
