He decides to hand him to the Israelites, whom Achior obviously holds in high esteem. Achior will enjoy his freedom for a while, though not for long,as the Israelites will soon be destroyed – or so Holophernes thinks. Assyrian soldiers leave Achior tied up just outside the Israeli city of Bethulia, in a place from which he is soon liberated.
