Definition of Integration

Integration refers to the combination of all available data and disciplines that may impact optimum well planning in an environment that includes the tools and engineering algorithms necessary to effectively create a well plan, and an economic model that will support comparison of design alternatives. Data integrated should include, as a minimum:
  • Well and platform (or pad) design constraints including configuration, kickoff depth, nudge depth, maximum dogleg severity, targets (location and entry angle if appropriate), "horizontal" extensions, ... (engineering constraints);
  • ell data including existing paths, well logs, dogleg severity as a function along the well path, well path positional uncertainty, closest approaches between well paths:
    • Bathymetry/topography;
    • Cultural data including existing pipelines and facilities;
    • Drilling hazards;
    • Seismic data;
    • Interpretation including horizons, faults, geobodies, attributes, critical lithologies between the surface and the target; ...;
    • Reservoir information including target points, estimated reservoir properties, lithologic variations, reservoir "sweet spots" if appropriate to support geosteering within the reservoir; ... .
