Mr. Patterson founded ASI with the notion of implementing innovative building systems and technology. Together with a starting team of highly talented and experienced individuals he developed the philosophical underpinnings and implementation strategies that put ASI among the most unique, effective and exciting organizations in the building industry. Patterson understands the technology of building systems. He has made significant contributions in the field of specialty structures and space enclosure systems. These contributions include the development of fully integrated building technologies including space frame and cladding systems in a variety of materials, as well as the design of many landmark structures utilizing these technologies.

Mr. Patterson continues to explore the new frontiers presented by combining emergent material and process technology with constantly evolving computer driven information processing and automation techniques. The objective is to form process integrated, information based, performance oriented building technologies with wide ranging applications in the marketplace. Emphasizing corporate responsiveness, uncompromising quality of products and services, and a total commitment to budget, schedule and customer satisfaction, Patterson has led the ASI team to the top of the specialty structures industry. Under his leadership the company has developed a diverse pallet of highly innovative building technologies and completed numerous sophisticated projects utilizing these technologies.

Patterson's early work involved studies in architecture and industrial design, combining material and process research with experimental structural systems based on principles of natural form. In a career spanning two decades Patterson has been responsible for the development of unique building technology, including the HyperFrames line of light weight, long span building systems. These systems have been used in the construction of hundreds of innovative building projects.

His past work includes product development, structural engineering, and the development of testing procedures and production technologies. With a strong background in systems design, he developed the various engineering and manufacturing techniques and design methods required to support the implementation of his building systems. In addition, he acted as project manager on many significant projects, personally directing the execution of the world's largest and most complex space frame enclosure, Biosphere 2, in Oracle, Arizona.

Mr. Patterson holds a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He has taught several courses at the university level and has lectured extensively to academic and professional groups including the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Specifications Institute.
